Electricity is a fundamental form of energy
occurring naturally (as in lightning) or produced artificially, and
results from the motion of electrically charged particles of
matter. These charges are either positive, or negative. Positively charged
particles, such as protons, repel one another and the negatively
charged particles, such as electrons, also repel one another.
Negative and positive particles, however, attract each other. This
behaviour may be summarized as follows: Like charges repel, and
unlike charges attract.
Electricity is a property of matter that results
from the presence or movement of electric charge. Together with
magnetism, it constitutes the fundamental interaction known as
electromagnetism. Electricity is responsible for many well-known
physical phenomena such as lightning, electric fields and electric
currents, and is put to use in industrial applications such as
electronics and electric power.
