I'm Lucy Richmond. Hello and welcome to my page. I am basically a happy but hard working Lady. Like everyone, I wear many hats and have many interests. The main ones are:
I was single for many years after college, looking for the right person to spend my life with. Finally I met Alan. We have two sons, Neil and Mark. We home school our boys and love it!
I am the CEO of EncycloZine, the creators of EncycloZine. We are a small but growing Internet company dedicated to providing a fun learning resource for all ages.
I have a BA in English from Birmingham-Southern College in Birmingham, Alabama, and an MBA in Management from Georgia State University, in Atlanta, Georgia. My first job was as a Technical Editor but I quickly got into computer programming and have over 12 years of programming experience. Before starting my family, I was first a Database Specialist and later the STSDAS Software Systems Administrator for The Space Telescope Science Institute in Baltimore, Maryland (where I met Alan).
EncycloZine is the second site Alan and I have built. Our first was The Web Developer's Virtual Library, which we built under the company name of CyberWeb SoftWare and later sold to Internet.com.
I have three main hobbies: collecting dragons, reading Dick Francis novels, and walking in my woods.
I began my dragon collection in 1986 while visiting Disney World with the purchase of a china dragon from Cinderella's castle. I have added more figurines, jewlery, and books since then. I prefer European and Welsh dragons to Oriental ones.
I read my first Dick Francis novel in the early 1970s. Since then I have looked forward to his yearly offering. My family knows not to expect me to do anything until I have devoured the new book. For those who don't know, Dick Francis is a former steeplechase jockey that now writes mysteries with some (sometimes very slim) tie-in to horse racing. I especially like his character development and his ability to give me insight into a world I know nothing about. His last book was published in 2001.
We are fortunate enough to live on over 35 acres of land, most of it still wooded. I find walking in the woods to be a great way to relax and collect my thoughts. Each season brings new things to see and enjoy.
